About the role

We are seeking an experienced Cook to join Cooinda Coonabarabran on a part-time basis. This position is located in Coonabarabran, NSW 2357 and plays a vital role in supporting the nutritional needs and wellbeing of our residents. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing wholesome, nutritious meals in an aged care environment, ensuring the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Planning, preparing and cooking nutritious meals and snacks that meet the dietary requirements and preferences of residents
• Maintaining strict food safety and hygiene standards in accordance with relevant legislation and best practice guideline
• Managing kitchen inventory, ordering supplies and monitoring stock levels to ensure cost-effectiveness
• Preparing meals that accommodate special dietary needs, allergies and medical requirements
• Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment and work areas to a high standard
• Working collaboratively with care staff
• Adhering to portion control and recipes

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a Cook, ideally in aged care
• Current knowledge of food safety practices and compliance with food handling regulations
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple meal preparations simultaneously
• Understanding of nutrition and the ability to prepare meals that meet diverse dietary requirements
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a care team
• A compassionate approach to care and a commitment to supporting vulnerable people
