What they need
Cook
Abilene Country Club
Bring your culinary skills to a team that values quality, teamwork, and memorable dining experiences. Abilene Country Club is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Cook to prepare and present delicious menu items for daily dining, special meals, and club events. You’ll play an important role in keeping the kitchen running smoothly while delivering the taste, presentation, consistency, and service our members expect.
What You’ll Do
Showcase your culinary skills by preparing menu items from approved recipes and meeting standards for quality, yield, taste, texture, appearance, temperature, and portion size.
Set each shift up for success by coordinating preparation with the supervisor, reviewing prep and production sheets, organizing your station, and anticipating quantities and backup items.
Help create an excellent dining experience by delivering, setting up, garnishing, displaying, and serving food on time while monitoring holding times and adapting quickly to service needs.
Protect freshness and quality by inspecting incoming products, rotating and storing food properly, supporting ordering decisions, and assisting with monthly inventory and production or event records.
Keep operations moving by using kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, following startup and shutdown procedures, and promptly reporting equipment or work-area concerns.
Make your voice count in daily production meetings and bring fresh ideas to menus, special meals, and recipe development or testing.
Be a trusted teammate through clear communication, professionalism, attention to detail, and practical problem-solving.
Step up when needed by taking responsibility for assigned menu items and helping maintain kitchen security and continuity when an immediate supervisor is absent.
Safety & Sanitation
· Follow all food-handling, sanitation, personal hygiene, uniform, and workplace safety standards.
· Keep the kitchen and assigned work areas clean and sanitary throughout operations and assist with scheduled cleanup.
· Immediately report accidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, and maintenance issues.
· Know the location and proper use of fire extinguishers and Ansul System pull stations.
What You Bring
You don’t need to check every box to be considered. If you enjoy working with food, take pride in helping a team, and are eager to grow your skills, we’d be glad to hear from you.
Familiarity with cooking times, temperatures, preparation methods, and basic food-safety practices—or the willingness to build that knowledge.
A positive, team-first approach and a willingness to communicate, stay organized, pay attention to details, and help solve everyday challenges.
The ability to stay organized, manage prep materials, and keep learning in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Basic comfort with technology, including using a point-of-sale system for timekeeping; training can be provided.
ServSafe certification when required by applicable Texas health regulations. If you are not yet certified, you should be willing and able to obtain it.
Schedule
Hospitality happens when our members need us, so flexibility is important. This role may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and shifts that vary with club activity. You may also take on other duties that support the team and a great member experience.
Compensation & Benefits
We offer competitive compensation based on your experience and qualifications $16-$20. Eligible employees may also enjoy club-provided benefits and dining or workplace perks, 401k, paid time off, employer paid life insurance, long term disability insurance benefits, medical, dental, & vision plans with specific offerings and eligibility reviewed during the hiring process.
