Essex House & Tavern — Island Pond, Vermont

The Essex House & Tavern is looking for an experienced Line Cook to join our kitchen team.

We're looking for someone with restaurant cooking experience who can step onto the line with the skills and confidence to consistently prepare quality food during service. This is not an entry-level kitchen position.

Responsibilities include:

• Preparing and cooking menu items accurately and consistently during service
• Setting up and maintaining an organized station
• Completing food preparation as needed
• Maintaining quality, portion and presentation standards
• Keeping work areas clean, organized, and properly stocked
• Following food safety and sanitation practices
• Communicating and working effectively with other kitchen team members
• Helping keep kitchen service running smoothly during busy periods

We're looking for someone who:

• Has previous professional restaurant cooking/line experience
• Is dependable and punctual
• Can work independently at their station while also working as part of a team
• Can stay organized and productive during busy service
• Understands the importance of consistency, timing and food quality
• Takes direction well and communicates professionally
• Is willing to pitch in wherever needed

Our current schedule is primarily evenings, Wednesday through Sunday. Hours may vary based on business levels and seasonal needs, with the potential for additional hours as operating hours expand.

Compensation:
$20–$28 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated ability. Potential annual earnings of $40,000–$80,000, depending on experience, abilities, hourly rate, and hours worked. Annual earnings are not guaranteed.
