About Us

Bud’s Korner Kitchen is a small, family-owned diner in Morganton, NC. We serve good, old-fashioned breakfast and lunch in a friendly, local atmosphere.

We’re looking for a reliable, hardworking Short Order Cook to join our kitchen team. Our busiest hours are during breakfast and lunch, so we need someone who can work efficiently, stay organized, and consistently put out good food even when things get busy.

Our Hours

• Monday–Friday: 6:00 AM–2:00 PM
• Saturday: 6:00 AM–11:00 AM — Breakfast Only
• Sunday: Closed

Your Schedule

The primary cook shift is:

8:00 AM–3:30 PM

Opening shifts are:

5:00 AM–3:00 PM

Opening shifts will be scheduled as needed.

Saturday availability is required as part of the regular schedule.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook breakfast and lunch orders accurately and efficiently
• Operate the grill, griddle, fryer, and other kitchen equipment
• Prepare eggs, bacon, sausage, burgers, sandwiches, and other diner-style foods
• Read and accurately follow customer tickets and special requests
• Handle multiple orders during busy breakfast and lunch rushes
• Keep your cooking station clean, organized, and properly stocked
• Complete daily food preparation and prep work
• Follow food safety and sanitation procedures
• Clean equipment, utensils, work surfaces, and kitchen areas
• Communicate effectively with servers and other kitchen staff
• Assist with opening and closing duties
• Help with stocking and other kitchen duties as needed

Qualifications

• Previous restaurant, short-order, line cook, or grill cook experience preferred
• Breakfast cooking experience is a plus
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen
• Able to work efficiently while maintaining food quality
• Dependable and punctual
• Able to work well with a small team
• Good communication skills
• Takes pride in keeping a clean and organized kitchen
• Able to follow recipes, tickets, and special instructions
• Willing to help wherever needed
• Able to stand for extended periods and safely handle kitchen equipment and supplies
