Position Title: Cook
Location: Santee, CA
Duration: 13 weeks
Work Schedule: 9:30am – 6:00pm or 11:00am – 7:30pm
Pay rate: $26.34/Hr on W2

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

We are seeking a Cook to support meal preparation in a healthcare dining environment serving approximately 160 residents. The Cook will work alongside the kitchen team to prepare nutritious meals, side dishes, and alternate menu items, including meals for residents with modified texture diets. This role requires strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, and large-scale meal preparation.

Schedule

• Shift Options:
• 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM
• 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• Hours per Week: Currently 32–40 hours, may vary as this is an on-call position.
• Workdays: Typically 4–5 days per week, including weekends and holidays as needed.
• Orientation Training Period: Approximately 2 weeks.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare entrees, side dishes, and alternate meal options from scratch for residents.
• Assist with dinner meal preparation alongside other kitchen staff.
• Support preparation of meals for approximately 160 residents, including those requiring modified texture diets.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards at all times.
• Assist with baking, portioning, and plating as needed.
• Maintain clean and organized kitchen work areas.
• Ensure meals are prepared according to dietary guidelines and facility standards.

Qualifications

• Previous cooking experience required, preferably in a skilled nursing facility, hospital, or large-scale food service environment.
• Experience with scratch cooking, baking, and meal preparation for large groups.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment and collaborate with the dietary team.

Certifications

• Food Handler's Card – Required
• ServSafe Certification – Preferred

• Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
• Strong teamwork, organization, and time management skills.
