We are currently recruiting a Cook for 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday to join our team at our new crèche in Seven Mills, Parkleigh.
Our creche caters for a multicultural and dynamic group of children, and we are looking for someone who is passionate about preparing delicious, nutritious food and who enjoys being part of a warm, child-focused environment.
We are proud to be a Bia Blasta service. Bia Blasta is a programme that provides healthy meals and snacks while helping children build healthy eating habits that support their growth, wellbeing and learning.
The successful candidate will work from our purpose-built kitchen, preparing healthy, varied and appetising meals and snacks for the children in our care. We are looking for someone who will also enjoy sharing their knowledge of nutrition and healthy eating with both the team and the children, helping us create a positive food culture throughout the service.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a background or experience in cooking, catering and/or nutrition.
- Have a good understanding of healthy eating and nutrition, particularly for young children.
- Have strong knowledge of food safety and a working knowledge of HACCP.
- Be able to plan and prepare nutritious, varied and appealing meals and snacks.
- Be comfortable catering for different dietary requirements, allergies and cultural preferences.
- Be hardworking, reliable, friendly and organised.
- Enjoy working in an environment with young children.
- Have initiative and be confident working independently and managing their own workload.
- Work well as part of a wider childcare team.
- Be willing to share ideas and knowledge around nutrition, food and healthy eating with staff and children.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety within the kitchen.
