Cook – The Deli, Caerphilly

Overview

We’re looking for someone who enjoys cooking to join our small team at The Deli, an independent coffee shop in Caerphilly.

This is a hands-on cook position, preparing breakfasts, lunches and other dishes from our menu. Some experience in a coffee shop, café, school canteen or similar kitchen would be helpful, but you don’t need to be a trained chef. We’re looking for someone reliable, willing to learn and happy to work alongside others.

What you’ll be doing

• Preparing and cooking food with care, following our recipes and portion sizes.
• Helping with daily preparation, including chopping, portioning and assembling ingredients.
• Working closely with the kitchen and front-of-house team to keep service running smoothly.
• Keeping the kitchen, equipment and work areas clean and tidy.
• Following food hygiene procedures and storing food correctly.
• Checking stock, rotating ingredients and letting the team know when supplies are running low.
• Helping colleagues where needed—we’re a small team, and everyone plays their part.

What we’re looking for

• An interest in cooking and taking pride in the food you prepare.
• Ideally, some practical cooking experience in a café, coffee shop, school canteen or similar setting.
• A friendly, positive attitude and a willingness to work as part of a small team.
• Reliability, good organisation and the ability to stay calm during busy periods.
• An understanding of food hygiene and a willingness to follow our kitchen procedures.
• A willingness to learn our menu and support your colleagues.
