About the role

Hamshaw Care Agency is looking for experienced, reliable and enthusiastic Cooks to work in care homes across Wilmslow, Poynton, Bollington.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys cooking, can work confidently in a fast-paced kitchen and takes pride in preparing nutritious, appetising meals for residents.

You will play an important role in ensuring residents receive high-quality meals that meet their dietary needs, preferences and individual requirements.

What we offer

Key responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking nutritious meals for residents
• Following menus and ensuring meals are served on time
• Catering for special diets, allergies and individual dietary requirements
• Maintaining high standards of food safety and kitchen hygiene
• Ensuring food is stored, prepared and served safely
• Monitoring food temperatures and completing required records
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment
• Managing workload effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Working alongside care home staff to meet residents' needs

Essential requirements

• Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene certificate minimum
• Previous experience working as a Cook in a professional kitchen
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Good knowledge of food hygiene, safe food handling and allergen awareness
• Ability to follow menus, instructions and dietary requirements
• Reliable, organised and able to work independently
• A caring and professional approach when working in a care home
• Willingness to complete the required recruitment and compliance checks

Experience in a care home or similar catering environment is highly desirable.

Working hours

Shifts are generally 8:00am to 5:00pm, with opportunities for flexible agency work depending on the needs of our care homes.
