About Healthy Kids’ Eats

Healthy Kids’ Eats Inc. prepares fresh, nutritious, and balanced meals for children attending daycare centres and schools.

We are seeking a reliable, organized, and flexible Part-Time Cook to support our daily kitchen operations and provide additional coverage during employee vacations, sick leave, and other staffing absences.

This position guarantees a minimum of 15 paid hours per week, with opportunities for additional hours depending on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Cooking

• Prepare nutritious meals following standardized recipes and menus.
• Assist with large-batch cooking and daily meal production.
• Follow portion guidelines and food quality standards.
• Prepare meals according to dietary restrictions and allergy protocols.
• Ensure meals are ready on time for delivery.

Kitchen Operations & Relief Coverage

• Cover shifts during employee vacations, sick days, and other absences.
• Assist the Head Cook with meal preparation and kitchen operations.
• Portion, package, label, and organize meals for delivery.
• Assist with inventory, receiving deliveries, and food storage.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen.
• Complete dishwashing and daily cleaning responsibilities.

Food Safety & Compliance

• Follow Ontario food safety and sanitation requirements.
• Prevent cross-contamination and follow allergen management procedures.
• Monitor food temperatures and complete required records.
• Report food safety or quality concerns to management.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Previous commercial kitchen or food preparation experience preferred.
• Large-volume cooking experience is an asset.
• Valid Ontario-recognized Food Handler Certification required before starting food-handling duties.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Reliable, punctual, and flexible with scheduling.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to perform essential kitchen duties, with accommodations where required.

Work Schedule & Availability

• Guaranteed minimum of 15 paid hours per week.
• Additional shifts may be offered based on staffing requirements.
• Monday to Friday, daytime hours.
• Flexibility required to cover vacations, sick leave, and unexpected absences.
• Some additional shifts may be offered on short notice.
