Position Summary

The Cold Prep Cook is an essential part of the kitchen team, responsible for preparing fresh vegetables, cold ingredients, and El Tiempo Cantina’s signature salsas and recipes. This position plays a key support role for the line by ensuring cooks have the properly prepped, portioned, and high-quality ingredients they need to execute service efficiently.

The ideal candidate has good knife skills, is organized, dependable, works well in a fast-paced kitchen, and takes pride in consistency, cleanliness, and quality.

Essential Responsibilities

• Prepare and cut a high volume of fresh vegetables and other ingredients for daily kitchen use.
• Prepare vegetables and ingredients used on the line, as well as components for other menu recipes.
• Make El Tiempo Cantina’s signature salsas according to established recipes and quality standards.
• Follow recipes, portioning guidelines, and preparation procedures consistently.
• Maintain a steady supply of properly prepared ingredients throughout the shift.
• Communicate with line cooks and kitchen leadership regarding prep levels and ingredient needs.
• Label, date, rotate, and properly store all prepared food and ingredients.
• Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary prep areas throughout the shift.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards.
• Properly use knives, slicers, food processors, and other kitchen equipment.
• Assist with additional prep and kitchen duties as needed to support the team.
• Work efficiently while maintaining accuracy, quality, and consistency.

What We're Looking For

• Previous restaurant or kitchen prep experience preferred.
• Strong knife skills and the ability to safely and efficiently cut vegetables.
• Ability to follow recipes and preparation standards.
• Ability to work quickly and consistently in a busy kitchen environment.
• Strong attention to detail and food quality.
• Dependable attendance and a positive team attitude.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the kitchen team.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive prep tasks.
• Willingness to help wherever needed to support a successful service.

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
