An all-around cook is responsible for preparing and cooking a wide variety of foods, managing one's workstation setup, ensuring food quality and safety standards, maintaining a clean kitchen, and assisting with inventory. She must work efficiently in various types of environment to deliver consistent, high-quality meals while adhering to health codes and recipes.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

• Food Preparation: Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, slicing, and mixing.
• Cooking: Operate kitchen equipment (grills, ovens, fryers) to roast, fry, broil, and steam food items.
• Menu Adherence: Follow established recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards for consistency.
• Station Management: Set up, maintain, and sanitize workstations, tools, and equipment before, during, and after shifts.
• Food Safety/Sanitation: Observe hygiene and sanitation in handling food; follow strict health regulations, monitor food temperatures, and properly store food to prevent spoilage.
• Inventory & Stock: Monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and report shortages to management.
• Collaboration: Work with other kitchen staff to ensure timely order completion.

Key Skills and Requirements

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in various cooking methods and knowledge of food handling techniques.
• Efficiency: Ability to multitask and work quickly in a high-pressure environment.
• Attention to Detail: Ensuring food quality, taste, and presentation meet standards.
• Cleanliness: Maintaining a hygienic, organized, and safe workspace.
• Experience: Previous experience as a line cook, prep cook, or in a similar role is generally required.
