Kitchen Assistant – Springlawn Nursing Home

Job Overview:

Springlawn Nursing Home is seeking a reliable, hardworking and motivated Kitchen Assistant to join our kitchen team. The successful candidate will support the Chef and kitchen staff in preparing and serving nutritious, well-balanced meals for our residents, while ensuring the kitchen is kept clean, organised and maintained to high hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Chef with food preparation, including washing, peeling and chopping vegetables and preparing ingredients for meals
• Assist with plating, portioning and serving meals to residents
• Wash dishes, cutlery, pots, pans and kitchen equipment
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen, including cleaning work surfaces, equipment and floors
• Assist with receiving, storing and organising food deliveries
• Follow all food safety, infection control and health & safety guidelines
• Support the Chef and kitchen team with general kitchen duties as required

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a kitchen or similar role desirable but not essential
• Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices
• Ability to work efficiently as part of a team and on own initiative
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail
• Reliable, hardworking and willing to assist with a variety of kitchen duties
• Ability to work in a busy kitchen environment
