Position Name: Cooling Bed & Bundling Technician

Experience : 6+ Years

Department: Rolling Mill Mechanical

Job Purpose:

The incumbent will be responsible for mechanical operation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and breakdown handling of cooling bed, bundling, counting, strapping, and material handling equipment in a TMT Rolling Mill. Ensure reliable equipment performance, minimum downtime, and smooth movement and bundling of finished bars.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate, inspect, and monitor cooling bed and bundling mechanical equipment for smooth and reliable operation.
• Ensure proper functioning of cooling bed, rake/transfer systems, roller tables, conveyors, bundle forming, and discharge mechanisms.
• Monitor and maintain proper bar alignment, separation, stacking, transfer, and discharge.
• Inspect and maintain bearings, rollers, shafts, chains, sprockets, couplings, gearboxes, cylinders, and mechanical drives.
• Carry out routine checks of hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, and mechanical systems.
• Identify and troubleshoot mechanical abnormalities such as vibration, noise, overheating, leakage, misalignment, and component wear.
• Perform preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance, lubrication, adjustment, alignment, and replacement of mechanical components.
• Attend breakdowns in the cooling bed and bundling section to minimize equipment downtime and production losses.
• Support maintenance activities during mill start-up, shutdowns, product changeovers, and planned maintenance.
• Coordinate with Production, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Operations teams for effective troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Ensure availability and proper condition of spares, tools, and critical mechanical components.
• Maintain proper maintenance records, inspection reports, and breakdown reports.
• Follow LOTO, safety procedures, housekeeping, and 5S requirements in the maintenance area.

Required Skills & Knowledge:

• Knowledge of rolling mill finishing operations, cooling bed systems, and bundling processes.
• Experience in handling TMT Rebar or Wire Rod products.
• Familiarity with bundle counting, tagging, weighing, and dispatch procedures.
• Understanding of quality requirements for finished steel products.

Ability to operate hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment used in the finishing section.
