Job Description

The New York City Mayor’s Office is responsible for overseeing city services throughout the five boroughs, coordinating public agencies and departments, and managing public property. The administration is leading the fight in making the city more affordable, reducing inequality, improving public safety, ensuring delivery of efficient and effective services, and working to make New York City’s economy stronger. We value leadership, transparency, fairness, and efficiency as we actively seek diverse talents from various sectors to join our team. For current job opportunities, visit our careers page.

The Team You’ll Work With:

The Mayor's Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence (ENDGBV) develops policies and programs, provides training and prevention education, conducts research and evaluations, performs community outreach, and operates the New York City Family Justice Centers and community-based programs. We collaborate with City agencies and community stakeholders to ensure access to inclusive services for survivors of domestic and gender-based violence (GBV). GBV can include intimate partner and family violence, elder abuse, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking.

ENDGBV incorporates DV/GBV survivors’ needs into New York City’s existing Coordinated Entry system, the Coordinated Assessment and Placement System (CAPS), an online survey used to connect homeless New Yorkers and those at risk of homelessness to the most appropriate housing options while protecting their personally identifying information and to ensure that DV/GBV survivors have equal and fair access to housing resources in NYC. This requires collaboration between the NYC Human Resources Administration (HRA), who oversees all DV shelters in NYC and the existing CAPS system, the Mayor’s Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence (ENDGBV), which operates the five Family Justice Centers (FJCs), a key entry point for survivors to have their shelter and housing needs met, community-based organizations that provide shelter and housing services to DV/GBV survivors, and survivors of DVGBV who have experienced homelessness.

The Mayor's Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence (ENDGBV) is recruiting one (1) Community Coordinator to function as a Coordinated Entry Coordinator who will:

  • Coordinate the implementation of updates to CAPS to integrate PII protections for the DVGBV survivor community; work collaboratively with project team members; and assist with coordinating the work between the team members and the on- and off-site DV partner agencies at the FJCs who will be utilizing CAPS.

  • Support project implementation in collaboration with ENDGBV, HRA and project team members, building upon existing work to incorporate PII protections for the DVGBV survivor community in CAPS according to HUD and VAWA requirements.

  • Engage DVGBV community service providers working at the FJCs, as well as various on- and off-site FJC partners, in the utilization of CAPS.

  • Develop promotional materials for DV community service providers and their clients about CAPS and the City’s Coordinated Entry process.

  • Collaborate with project team members to develop training for DV community service providers on how to use updated functions in CAPS and provide ongoing support to providers.

  • Gather feedback about CAPS from DVGBV community service providers, survivors, and other key stakeholders to ensure the system protects survivors’ PII and meets their safety and service needs.

  • Partner with the TA provider and external evaluator throughout the project to ensure the incorporation of best practices for integrating PII protections for the DV/GBV survivor community in a CE system.

  • Contribute to drafting reports pertaining to aspects of the project, including, but not limited to, project development, implementation, and evaluation.

  • Participate in regular meetings with the project team to keep project goals on track and ensure effective collaboration with project team members to implement the integration of the DV/GBV survivor community in CAPS.

  • Manage referrals to DV Rapid Rehousing programs, including assisting the DVGBV CE Director in managing incoming referrals and communicating with referring community providers.

  • Perform any additional tasks, as deemed appropriate and needed by supervisor.

Hours/Schedule: Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm.
