What they need
About us
Dungog Shire Council supports a growing rural community of over 10,000 residents in the vibrant and picturesque Hunter region of NSW. We are committed to ensuring the ongoing and consistent delivery of local services that are valued by our community and will be for generations to come.
It is anticipated that our population will grow by 1.9% per annum over the next 20 years as per the Hunter Regional Plan, higher than the state growth average. With an additional 2,400 dwellings to be provided over the term of the Hunter Regional Plan, Dungog will be the second fastest growing LGA in the Hunter Region.
Dungog is ideally located just over an hour north of Newcastle and within close proximity to a range of other regional hubs in the Hunter Valley, such as Maitland and Raymond Terrace. We have an enviable lifestyle with easy access to World Heritage listed sites, such as Barrington Tops National Park.
Your next opportunity
Following a comprehensive service review, Council is implementing Phase 2 of the Infrastructure & Assets transformation, focused on strengthening middle management, clarifying accountabilities, improving coordination and ensuring our services are sustainable, well-governed and future-ready.
As part of this transformation, we are seeking a strategic and technically skilled Coordinator Assets to lead Council's asset management and property functions and support long-term infrastructure sustainability across the Shire.
Reporting to the Manager Assets & Engineering and forming part of the Infrastructure & Assets Directorate, this role is responsible for coordinating asset management planning, overseeing asset systems and inspections, and ensuring robust governance and compliance across Council's infrastructure portfolio.
This position plays a key role in shaping Council's future capital works program through data-driven insights, lifecycle modelling and renewal forecasting. You will oversee asset management systems, coordinate condition inspections, manage development-related asset processes (including Roads Act approvals and asset signoffs) and provide oversight of property and procurement functions.
You will lead a team, liaise with internal departments, contractors and developers and ensure asset, property and procurement processes are transparent, compliant and aligned with Council's long-term financial and strategic objectives.
If you are an experienced asset management professional with strong analytical capability, leadership skills and a commitment to governance and sustainability, we encourage you to apply.
Essential selection criteria include (full criteria in the Position Description below):
- Degree in engineering, asset management or a related discipline, combined with contemporary professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience in asset management planning, lifecycle modelling and asset systems administration.
- Knowledge and experience in pavement management systems and asset condition inspections.
- Strong understanding of development-related asset processes, including asset signoffs and Roads Act approvals.
- Experience overseeing property management and procurement processes within a local government or similar environment.
- Proven leadership and people management skills, fostering a safe, inclusive and high-performing workplace.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including negotiation and compliance management.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse complex data, prepare technical reports and provide evidence-based recommendations to support decision-making.
Be rewarded
This position is placed at Grade 13 of Council's salary system and is a full-time, permanent position. The salary offered is in the range of $108,915 to $122,515 per annum plus 12% Superannuation and a civil liability allowance.
This role works a 19-day month with 1 rostered day off (RDO) every 4 weeks.
Other Council benefits:
- Extra leave between the Christmas and New Year period (additional to your annual leave)
- Flexible work arrangements
- Outstanding team environment
- Ongoing opportunities for professional development: We have annual assessments for all Council employees to put plans in place for training and career progression so that you can broaden your horizons during your time with us
