What they need
Coordinator
PM+ | North Shields, NE30 | Office based | Full time
About us
PM+ is a UK wide surveying and advisory consultancy. We work with housing associations, registered providers and councils across England, Scotland and Wales. In plain terms, when a tenant reports a problem with their home, we are the people who go and find out what is actually wrong and tell the landlord how to fix it.
We think of ourselves as professionals with personalities. The work matters and we do it properly, but we are a small team with a sense of humour and no appetite for corporate stiffness. Decisions get made in the room rather than in a committee, good ideas get picked up quickly wherever they come from, and nobody here is a number.
The role
This is the role the whole operation runs through. Every survey we carry out starts with someone arranging it, and that someone is you. You will be the first voice a tenant hears from PM+, the person our surveyors rely on to make their week work, and the one who keeps the business honest about where every job stands.
We are growing, which means priorities shift and no two days look quite the same. It suits someone who takes ownership rather than waiting to be told what is next, and who quite enjoys the bit of chaos that comes with a busy team.
How we work
We are an innovative business and we automate wherever we sensibly can. We have built our own system that runs autonomously alongside the team, liaising directly with our surveyor network, directing work and keeping jobs moving without anyone having to chase. It does the repetitive lifting so the role is about judgement and people rather than typing the same thing into three places.
We use AI in a smart, practical way to support our processes and the day to day running of the business. You do not need to arrive knowing any of it. If you are curious and willing to learn, we will teach you.
What you will be doing
- Speaking to tenants to arrange, confirm and rearrange survey appointments, often when they are frustrated about something that has gone wrong in their home
- Building the surveyors’ diaries so their days make geographic and practical sense, not just a list of addresses
- Handling inbound calls and enquiries from tenants, clients and surveyors, and knowing who needs what
- Sending confirmations and reminders by email and text
- Spotting trouble early and acting on it: no access, cancellations, urgent hazards and the statutory timescales that come with them
- Keeping our systems current, and helping us automate the parts of that which should never have been manual in the first place
- Supporting the Operations Manager and the wider team with the day to day running of the office
- Helping build better ways of working as we scale, rather than just following the ones we already have
Where this could go
We are not looking for someone to sit and process bookings for the next five years. As the business grows, this role grows with it. Depending on where your strengths turn out to be, that could mean running scheduling across a bigger surveyor network, moving into operations or client management, or taking on the systems and process side. We would far rather promote the person who already knows how we work than advertise again in eighteen months.
What we are looking for
- Experience in an administrative, office support, customer service or scheduling role is helpful, but attitude matters more than a CV
- A confident, warm telephone manner, because you will be speaking to tenants and surveyors
- Strong organisation and the ability to hold several things in the air at once without dropping any of them
- An eye for detail, and the sense to question something that looks wrong rather than pass it on
- Comfortable in Microsoft Office and quick to pick up new systems
- Clear, professional written communication
- Reliable, punctual and genuinely good to have around
Nice to have
- A basic understanding and knowledge of AI. Not a necessity, and it can be taught
- Familiarity with the social housing or surveying sector
Hours and location
Full time, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, office based at our North Shields office in NE30. We ask for office based working because a lot of what you do depends on being in the room with the rest of the team, and because social housing clients tend to start their day early.
What we offer
- We are an accredited Living Wage employer, so you will be paid at or above the real Living Wage, with scope to go higher for the right person
- Workplace pension
- 21 days holiday plus the 8 bank holidays, increasing with each year of service
- Discount at the restaurant and bar in our building
- A flexible employer when life needs it. The hours are set, but if you have children or something comes up, we work round it rather than making a problem of it
- A small, dynamic team where your ideas actually get heard, and real progression as the business grows
How to apply
Send your CV and a short note about why this role appeals to you to [email protected]. You do not need to write us a formal covering letter. We would rather hear what you are actually like.
Pay: £26,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
