Copilot Technical Lead

We’re working with one of the UK’s leading Microsoft Partners as they build an internal AI capability to transform how the wider business operates.

They already have more than 100 potential use cases identified across the organisation, ranging from agents that automate finance and operational processes through to AI-powered applications that analyse business data and generate insights.

They’re looking for a hands-on AI Technical Lead to take ownership of this work provide technical direction to a small team of two junior engineers / makers.

Copilot Studio will be the primary technology used across the programme, so we’re looking for someone who has genuinely built agents and taken them into production—not simply completed a certification or experimented with the platform.

Your background could have started within Power Platform, software development or automation, but you’ll need strong practical experience across areas such as:

• Copilot Studio
• Power Platform
• Power Automate and Power Apps
• AI agents and workflow automation
• Connecting agents to business systems and data
• Agent orchestration, actions and tool calling
• Governance, monitoring and production support

This isn’t a traditional enterprise architecture role, and we’re not looking for someone focused exclusively on Microsoft Foundry or complex pro-code development.

You’ll still need enough technical breadth to recognise when Copilot Studio or low-code isn’t the right answer and be comfortable working with developers on more complex solutions. However, the priority is someone who can build with Copilot Studio, provide technical direction and turn business problems into practical AI solutions.

The role is focused on technical leadership rather than line management. You’ll set the approach, review solutions, support the two engineers beneath you and help establish the standards and governance needed to move agents from idea through to production.

This is an internally facing position, working directly with the CTO and senior stakeholders across the business. You won’t be tied to client timesheets or moved between external projects, giving you the opportunity to take genuine ownership of a long-term AI transformation programme.

An MSP or consultancy background isn’t required. You could come from an internal enterprise environment, provided you’re comfortable running discovery sessions, understanding business processes and communicating clearly with senior stakeholders.

💷 Salary up to £100,000 depending on experience
