In this role, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining fiber optic and copper cables that form the backbone of our telecommunications infrastructure. Your expertise will ensure the delivery of reliable network services to residential, commercial, and industrial clients. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors in diverse environments, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and heavy equipment to achieve top-tier results. Your technical proficiency and dedication will directly impact the quality and efficiency of our network operations.

Duties

  • Perform fiber optic splicing, cable installation, and repair in outdoor and underground environments following industry standards such as the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
  • Operate heavy equipment including bucket trucks, trenchers, and other construction machinery safely and efficiently during installation projects.
  • Use diagnostic tools and telecommunications testing equipment to troubleshoot network issues, identify faults, and ensure optimal system performance.
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering plans to accurately install and maintain telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Install, test, and maintain telecommunications network cables including fiber optic cables, copper cables, LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Ethernet, and telephony systems.
  • Conduct outside plant operations such as cable splicing, cable pulling, conduit installation, and fiber splicing with precision.
  • Follow safety protocols diligently by adhering to the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) standards while working on outdoor infrastructure projects.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, voltmeters, and other technical equipment to perform installations and troubleshooting support effectively.
  • Support engineering troubleshooting efforts by diagnosing issues within fiber optic networks or IT infrastructure to restore service swiftly.
  • Maintain detailed records of work performed, including splicing configurations, test results, and project documentation for quality assurance.

Experience

  • Proven experience in field service roles within telecommunications or related construction industries.
  • Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment such as bucket trucks or similar machinery used in outdoor cable installation projects.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with fiber splicing techniques—both mechanical and fusion—and familiarity with fiber optic cables.
  • Strong knowledge of telecommunications testing equipment used for network verification and troubleshooting.
  • Background in telecommunications outside plant operations including cabling, conduit installation, and fiber optic network deployment.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering plans accurately for complex installations.
  • Experience working outdoors in various weather conditions with a focus on safety compliance under NESC standards.
  • Technical troubleshooting skills supporting IT infrastructure components like LANs, WANs, Ethernet networks, telephony systems, and power tools usage.
  • Construction experience involving cable pulling, trenching, or other related activities is highly desirable.

Join us as a Copper Splicer if you thrive in dynamic outdoor environments where your technical skills make a tangible difference! We value safety-minded professionals with a passion for building reliable telecommunications networks that connect communities and businesses alike.
