Contract: 6-12 months  

Role Overview:

Seeking a Data Business Specialist (Data BS) to act as the key liaison between functional banking business units and technology teams. In this role, you will analyze, translate, and model complex banking data requirements across commercial lending, payments, treasury, and regulatory reporting domains. You will ensure high data quality, clear data lineage, master data management, and compliance with global financial regulatory data frameworks (such as BCBS 239) while driving data-driven insights and business intelligence solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Business Data Analysis & Requirements Gathering

• Partner with business stakeholders (Risk, Finance, Treasury, Trade Finance, Lending) to capture data requirements for core platform transformations and analytics initiatives.

• Translate raw business requirements into precise technical data specifications, conceptual/logical data models, and mapping documents.

• Analyze source-to-target mapping (STM) across legacy banking databases and modern enterprise data warehouses/lakes.

2. Data Governance, Quality & Lineage

• Define, curate, and maintain business data dictionaries, enterprise metadata, and master/reference data sets in line with global standards.

• Document end-to-end data lineage across financial applications to support regulatory reporting and audit readiness.

• Establish data quality rules, identify root causes of data anomalies, and lead remediation workflows with business data stewards.

3. Business Intelligence & Reporting Solutions

• Work alongside Data Engineers to design dashboards, KPI/KRI metrics, and operational reports (Power BI, Tableau) for executive management.

• Validate data transformation pipelines and perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for analytics and regulatory data releases.

4. Stakeholder & Project Management

• Act as the subject matter expert (SME) during Agile project sprints, refining data user stories and backlog items.

• Ensure data management solutions align with global risk management, security, and compliance frameworks.

Required Qualifications & Skills: Technical Skills:

- Data Querying & Modeling: Advanced SQL (joins, window functions, complex queries) and working knowledge of data modeling concepts (dimensional modeling, star/snowflake schemas).

- BI & Data Tools: Hands-on experience with Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, or Collibra (Metadata/Data Catalog).

- Data Architectures: Familiarity with modern data architectures (Snowflake, AWS S3/Redshift, Azure Data Lake, Databricks).

- Banking Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of commercial banking operations—such as Deposits, Commercial Lending, Trade Finance, Payments (SWIFT/ACH), or Regulatory Reporting (MAS, FCA, FED, RBI).

Soft Skills:

- Strong analytical mind with a structured, detail-oriented approach to complex banking data sets.

 - Excellent cross-functional communication and stakeholder management skills across non-technical and technical audiences
