Roaming Operations Engineer L2 (Contract) – Core & Roaming Operations | EU Remote

Our client, a leading international telecommunications operator, is seeking an experienced Roaming Operations Engineer L2 to support advanced troubleshooting, incident management, and service stability across global roaming environments. This role is fully remote within the EU and requires strong technical capability in Mobile Core and IMS/VoLTE domains, with professional proficiency in Spanish and English.

Role Overview

As part of the Core & Roaming Operations team, you will act as the technical escalation point for complex roaming incidents, lead deep‑dive investigations, and coordinate with international operators, vendors, and engineering teams. You will contribute to service stability, operational excellence, and the evolution of roaming technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and resolve complex incidents escalated by L1

• Perform advanced troubleshooting across international roaming platforms and services

• Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and define corrective and preventive actions

• Coordinate incident resolution with operators, suppliers, and equipment vendors

• Provide technical leadership during critical and high‑impact situations

• Support and validate changes, planned works, and maintenance activities

• Produce technical documentation, operational procedures, and post‑incident reports

• Support training and technical development of L1 engineers

• Identify automation and operational optimisation opportunities

• Participate in technology evolution and operational transformation projects

Your Profile - Must Have

• Understanding of International Roaming concepts (Home/Visited Network, roaming flows)

• Experience in telecom operations, support, or network monitoring

• Fundamental knowledge of Mobile Core networks (HLR, HSS, IMS concepts)

• Basic understanding of LTE and VoLTE services

• Familiarity with SS7, Diameter, SIP signalling

• Basic troubleshooting and incident analysis skills

• Experience with monitoring and ticketing tools

• Basic IP networking knowledge (IP addressing, DNS, TCP/UDP)

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills

• Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish (min B2+)

• Availability to participate in on‑call rotation

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of VoWiFi Roaming, 5G Roaming, IPX networks

• Experience with roaming interworking and interoperability between operators

• Familiarity with STP, DRA/DRS, SBC, Roaming Hubs, SS7/Diameter Firewalls, SeGW

• Exposure to subscriber databases and authentication platforms (UDM, UDR, EIR, AAA, LDAP)

• Experience in critical incident management, RCA, change management, KPI/SLA monitoring

• Knowledge of automation and operational improvement practices

• Experience working with international operators, vendors, and suppliers

• Portuguese language skills
