This position will help manage financial data and prepare financial reports as part of a team. Important to note - affordable housing experience is required, whether directly or as an auditor / public accountant.

Responsibilities

• Supports all aspects of the finance operations including month end and the preparation of reporting packages for the Board of Directors and committees.
• Complete recurring monthly journal entries for the close process.
• Proactively identify, research, and report upon significant variances.
• Assist with supervising Staff Accountants and other staff; ie review and approve monthly journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Provide continuous assessment of the month-end close process to increase efficiency.
• Collaborate with multiple internal departments along with senior leaders to develop accurate budgets and forecasts.
• Monitor daily cash flow, analyzing cash position to identify any potential issues or opportunities.
• Work with external auditors to facilitate audits and tax filings.
• Support internal control environment through updating control narratives and process flow charts and assisting in the remediation of control issues identified.
• Research accounting topics to determine the appropriate accounting treatment for transactions as they arise.
• Lead process improvement initiatives and assist with special projects.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.

Experience

• 3+ years of relevant accounting experience, including month-end close and financial reporting.
• Affordable housing industry experience required.
