About the Role

Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority is hiring full-time Jail Officers to support the safe, secure, and orderly operation of its facilities. This position provides a stable public-service career with paid training, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for overtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the safety and security of incarcerated individuals, staff, and visitors.
• Monitor housing areas, facility activity, and daily operations.
• Follow established security procedures, post orders, and facility policies.
• Conduct required checks, documentation, and routine reports.
• Respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with coworkers, supervisors, and incarcerated individuals.
• Participate in required training and maintain professional standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• At least 20 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• U.S. citizenship.
• Valid Virginia driver’s license.
• Ability to successfully complete a drug screening and extensive background investigation.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and perform the essential functions of the position.

Compensation and Benefits

• Starting salary: $49,391 annually.
• Salary after one year: $51,643 annually.
