Cosmetics Formulator

About the role

Senior Cosmetic Formulator role focused on developing and optimizing cosmetic formulations based on client briefs and market trends, conducting bench trials and stability studies, and ensuring compliance with FDA and IFRA guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimize cosmetic formulations based on client briefs and market trends
• Conduct bench trials, stability studies, and raw material evaluations
• Prepare lab samples for internal and client review
• Support pilot runs and production scale-up; troubleshoot processing issues
• Ensure formulas comply with FDA and IFRA guidelines
• Maintain accurate documentation for formulations, revisions, and test results
• Coordinate with Production, QA/QC, Purchasing, and Sales teams
• Lead multiple formulation projects and ensure timely delivery
• Mentor and guide Junior Formulator or R&D personnel
• Stay updated on new ingredients, technologies, and industry trends

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, or Cosmetic Science
• 5+ years experience in cosmetic formulation (skin care, hair care, or personal care)
• Strong knowledge of cold process soap, emulsions, gels, cleansers, and anhydrous products
• Experience in stability testing, scale-up, and troubleshooting manufacturing issues
• Familiar with GMP, raw material evaluation, and basic QC parameters (pH, viscosity, etc.)
• Knowledge of FDA regulations, ingredient restrictions, and documentation requirements
• Good project management skills; able to handle multiple formulation projects
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams
• Creative, detail-oriented, and able to mentor junior staff
