Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join a growing manufacturing organization. This position will play a key role in analyzing production costs, maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting financial reporting, and partnering with operations to drive profitability and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment and a strong understanding of cost accounting principles.

Responsibilities

• Maintain standard costs for raw materials, labor, and overhead.
• Analyze manufacturing variances and provide recommendations for improving cost efficiency.
• Prepare monthly cost accounting reports and inventory-related analyses.
• Reconcile inventory and manufacturing-related general ledger accounts.
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Support physical inventory counts and cycle count programs.
• Review inventory transactions to ensure accurate valuation and reporting.
• Partner with Operations, Production, and Supply Chain teams to understand cost drivers and identify opportunities for process improvements.
• Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, and profitability analysis.
• Monitor product margins and provide insight into cost trends.
• Support internal and external audits related to inventory and manufacturing operations.
• Develop ad hoc financial reports and analyses for leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory accounting, and variance analysis.
• Experience working with ERP systems.
• Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs, and data analysis.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both finance and operational teams.
• Experience supporting inventory management and manufacturing processes.
• CPA or CMA designation (or progress toward certification) is a plus.

Preferred Experience

• Manufacturing, packaging, chemical, coatings, printing, or industrial product experience.
• Multi-site manufacturing environment experience.
• Exposure to process improvement and operational finance initiatives.
• Experience supporting inventory optimization and cost-reduction projects.
