Cost Accountant

The Cost Accountant is responsible for analyzing, monitoring, and controlling the company’s costs. The role involves preparing cost reports, monitoring inventory and production costs, analyzing variances, and providing accurate financial information to support management decision-making.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze product, production, and operational costs.
• Prepare and maintain accurate cost records and reports.
• Conduct inventory valuation and reconciliation.
• Analyze variances between actual costs and budgeted or standard costs.
• Monitor material, labor, and overhead costs.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend improvements.
• Coordinate with operations, purchasing, warehouse, and accounting departments regarding cost-related concerns.
• Ensure accuracy of inventory and cost accounting records.
• Assist during internal and external audits.
• Perform other accounting and finance-related tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field.

• At least 2–3 years of experience in cost accounting, inventory accounting, or general accounting.

• Experience in a manufacturing, retail, distribution, or similar industry is an advantage.

• Strong knowledge of costing methods, inventory management, and financial analysis.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.

• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.

• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to meet deadlines.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
