Cost Accountant

We are seeking a Cost Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing production costs, maintaining accurate cost records, evaluating inventory valuation, and preparing cost reports to support financial planning and management decision-making. The candidate should have a strong understanding of cost accounting principles, manufacturing processes, and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, compute, and analyze product costing based on raw materials, direct labor, manufacturing overhead, and other related production expenses.
• Monitor and update product costs to ensure accuracy and consistency of costing records.
• Analyze actual production costs against standard or budgeted costs and identify significant variances.
• Coordinate with Production, Warehouse, Purchasing, and Accounting departments to gather accurate cost-related information.
• Monitor raw material consumption, production output, inventory movements, and wastage for costing purposes.
• Assist in calculating the cost of goods manufactured (COGM) and cost of goods sold (COGS).
• Prepare periodic costing reports, cost summaries, and variance analysis for management review.
• Verify the accuracy of material costs, production quantities, and other cost-related data recorded in the accounting or ERP system.
• Assist in inventory reconciliation and investigate discrepancies that may affect product costing.
• Maintain organized and updated costing worksheets, supporting documents, and accounting records.
• Perform other accounting-related tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy or any related field.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience in cost accounting.
• Strong knowledge of product costing, standard costing, actual costing, inventory valuation, COGM, and COGS.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes, bills of materials (BOM), work-in-progress (WIP), and production cost allocation.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, lookup functions, and PivotTables.
• Experience using accounting software or systems for costing, inventory, and financial reporting.
• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in analyzing financial and production data.
• Ability to investigate cost variances and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
• Able to work independently, manage deadlines, and maintain confidentiality of financial information.
