Cost Accounting Officer

Key Responsibilities

1. Prepare and maintain product standard costs, including material, labour, machine, and manufacturing overhead costs.
2. Perform cost analysis and monitor manufacturing variances such as material usage, purchase price, labour, overhead, scrap, and production variances.
3. Support inventory valuation and reconciliation of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods.
4. Assist in month-end closing activities related to costing, inventory, accruals, and cost adjustments.
5. Prepare monthly costing reports, inventory reports, variance analysis, and other financial information for management review.
6. Work closely with Production, Engineering, Procurement, and Warehouse teams to investigate cost variances and inventory discrepancies.
7. Support product costing for new products, quotations, engineering changes, and cost improvement activities.
8. Monitor slow-moving, excess, and obsolete inventory and assist in preparing relevant provisions and reports.
9. Support budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring of manufacturing expenses and cost performance.
10. Assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities and provide costing information to support continuous improvement initiatives.
11. Ensure costing records and supporting documents are properly maintained in accordance with company policies and internal controls.
12. Support internal and external audits by providing costing schedules, inventory records, and other required documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Accounting, or related discipline.
• 2–5 years of relevant experience in cost accounting, manufacturing accounting, inventory accounting, or related finance functions.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
• Good understanding of product costing, standard costing, inventory valuation, and manufacturing variance analysis.
• Experience in month-end closing and financial reporting is an advantage.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP or accounting systems is preferred.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented with good organizational and time-management skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
