What they need
About QP
Inspired by creativity. Driven by purpose. Built on collaboration.
At QP, we design, engineer and manage the built environment with a deep commitment to quality, sustainability and innovation. Working across countries and cultures, our teams collaborate to deliver iconic, meaningful and future-focused projects for a diverse international client base.
Role Purpose
As Cost Analyst, you will support the commercial oversight of projects across QP's portfolio, preparing high-level cost estimates at the early project stage while monitoring the commercial performance of projects already under way for clients. This involves reading through budgets, procurement records, claims and progress reports, checking the numbers behind them and reporting on what does and does not reconcile.
Key Responsibilities
High level estimates
- Take off areas and quantities from drawings, and build up rates
- Prepare high level and order of cost estimates for capital and maintenance expenditure
- Assist in preparing elemental cost plans and benchmarking them against comparable projects
- Maintain and improve our cost data records so that past projects remain usable as benchmarks
Project monitoring
- Review project documentation — budgets, procurement records, tender returns, contracts, claims and progress reports — and verify the figures against their source
- Check reported and revised budgets against approved amounts, identify variances and establish what is driving them
- Track expenditure and progress against project schedules, and report on status at agreed intervals
- Carry out site visits to confirm that reported progress matches what has actually been built, with photographic records
- Flag inconsistencies, unsupported figures and eligibility concerns clearly and early, with the evidence behind them
- Support project audits, including reports and risk assessments
Across both
- Collaborate with clients, designers and contractors to collect and verify data
- Organise coordination meetings, minute them, and track actions and milestones through to closure
- Prepare reports and presentations for clients and funding bodies
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Economics, Quantity Surveying, Finance or Economics
- Approximately 2 years' experience in cost management, quantity surveying
- Able to read and interpret architectural drawings, and measure from them accurately
- Comfortable working through long documents and detailed spreadsheets, and able to trace a figure back to where it came from
- Familiarity with elemental cost planning and benchmarking (NRM or equivalent)
- Working awareness of standard forms of contract and of public procurement rules
What we Offer
- High-impact role in a fast-growing, international environment.
- Exposure to complex, high-profile projects and cross-disciplinary teams.
- Clear development pathway and the opportunity to shape planning standards at QP.
- Competitive package aligned to experience.
