Cost Analyst

Overview

A growing Meat & Poultry Processing Company in Commerce, California is seeking a highly motivated and analytical Cost Control Analyst to join our finance team.

This position is responsible for monitoring and controlling costs across the organization, supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, and providing financial analysis to assist executive management with strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting and financial analysis experience, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain cost control procedures and reporting systems.
• Analyze operating costs and identify opportunities for cost reductions and process improvements.
• Prepare and monitor departmental budgets and spending plans.
• Develop financial forecasts and cash flow projections.
• Review invoices, expenditures, and purchase requests for accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare detailed financial reports and executive management summaries.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide recommendations based on findings.
• Monitor actual costs against budgeted costs and investigate discrepancies.
• Perform cost analyses related to operational and strategic initiatives.
• In-Source vs. Outsource Analysis
• Capital vs. Labor Cost Analysis
• Assess financial risks and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare detailed reports based on orders, invoices, expenditures, and operational activities.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in:
• Financial Analysis
• Cost Accounting
• Budgeting & Forecasting
• Financial Reporting
• Cost Control
• Manufacturing, food processing, or meat industry experience is highly preferred.

Skills

• Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
• Ability to utilize logic, reasoning, and financial modeling to support business decisions.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis methodologies.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines.
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
