The role involves monitoring project expenditures against approved budgets, identifying cost variances, preparing cost reports, and coordinating closely with project site teams and the Commercial Department to ensure effective cost management and timely client billing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and monitor project cost baselines, budgets, and cost control systems.

  • Analyse cost variances, identify potential financial risks, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor project progress and evaluate its impact on budgets, cash flow, and overall project profitability.
  • Coordinate with project managers, planning engineers, procurement teams, and site personnel to collect and validate cost data.
  • Prepare, review, and monitor client invoices, running account (RA) bills, and progress payment applications.
  • Coordinate with site teams to verify work progress, measurement records, supporting documents, and billing quantities before submission to clients.

  • Prepare monthly project cost reports, cost forecasts, S-curves, variance analysis, and management dashboards.
  • Maintain accurate cost databases, project records, and supporting commercial documentation.
  • Act as a coordination link between project sites and the Commercial Department to ensure timely reporting, cost control, and billing compliance.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • B.E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant engineering discipline.
  • 2–3 years of experience in cost engineering, project cost control, or commercial functions in infrastructure, industrial, or construction projects.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel, including formulas, PivotTables, data analysis, and cost reporting.
  • Working knowledge of project budgeting, cost forecasting, variance analysis, and cost control procedures.
  • Understanding of client billing, RA bills, progress payments, measurement records, and variation claims.
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6 is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, documentation, and reporting skills.
  • Good coordination and communication skills to work effectively with site and commercial teams.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AACE Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) certification.
  • Experience in industrial projects, infrastructure, oil & gas, marine, shipbuilding, or civil construction.
  • Knowledge of project contracts, subcontractor billing, cost management systems, and commercial documentation.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of connecting project execution data with commercial and financial performance. The candidate must be comfortable coordinating with project sites, tracking costs and client billing, meeting reporting deadlines, and identifying potential cost overruns before they affect project profitability.

Interested candidates can apply through Indeed with an updated CV highlighting relevant project cost control and commercial experience.
