What they need

Company Overview

Our client is a fast-growing engineering and construction consultancy specialising in data centres and mission-critical infrastructure. From their Dublin base, they deliver projects across Europe and internationally, supporting clients on some of the most technically demanding and capital-intensive developments in the built environment.

The business has earned a strong reputation for technical depth, responsiveness and a genuinely client-focused approach. Their specialist focus on mission-critical facilities means they are trusted by clients who need advisors who understand the pace, complexity and commercial pressures of the sector.

Rapid growth in data centre investment across Europe and beyond has driven a significant expansion in their workload. They are now appointing a Cost & Project Controls Director to lead this function through its next stage of growth, shaping how cost management and project controls are delivered across an expanding portfolio.

Working Environment & Projects

This is a senior leadership appointment within an entrepreneurial, high-growth business. Decision-making is fast, hierarchy is flat and senior leaders have direct influence over strategy, client relationships and the way the business develops. It is an environment that rewards initiative, commercial thinking and strong leadership.

You will lead a team of cost and project controls professionals across a large portfolio of data centre and mission-critical projects. The work spans the full project lifecycle, from early-stage cost planning, budgeting and investment support through to project controls, reporting and commercial management during delivery.

Direct client engagement is central to the role. You will act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, providing clear commercial insight, robust forecasting and confidence in cost and programme performance on high-value, time-critical projects.

While the role is based in Dublin, the international nature of the portfolio means there will be periods where you are based in Europe to support key projects. This offers valuable first-hand exposure to major international developments and the opportunity to build relationships with clients across multiple markets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the cost management and project controls function across a large portfolio of data centre and mission-critical projects
  • Build, manage and develop a high-performing team of cost and project controls professionals
  • Act as the senior point of contact for clients, providing strategic commercial advice and confident reporting
  • Oversee cost planning, budgeting, forecasting, change control and cost reporting across all projects
  • Establish and embed consistent project controls standards, systems and reporting across the business
  • Drive risk management, programme integration and performance measurement on complex, fast-track projects
  • Support business development, proposals and the growth of key client accounts
  • Contribute to the wider leadership and strategic direction of the business

What You Need

  • Significant senior experience in cost management and/or project controls within a consultancy environment
  • Proven data centre experience, ideally across multiple projects or clients
  • Track record of leading and developing teams across a large or multi-project portfolio
  • Strong client-facing skills, with the credibility to advise senior stakeholders
  • Deep understanding of cost planning, forecasting, change control and project controls methodologies
  • Open to being based in Europe for periods when project needs require
  • MRICS, MSCSI or equivalent professional membership highly regarded

What You’ll Get in Return

This position offers a base salary of €150,000, reflecting the seniority and strategic importance of the role. More importantly, it provides a long-term platform within a fast-growing specialist consultancy, where you will lead a key function, work directly with major clients on an international portfolio and play a central part in shaping the business as it continues to scale.
