Cost Control Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Cost Control Engineer – Mechanical to join our team in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and solid experience in cost control, project cost monitoring, and commercial reporting within Oil & Gas, EPC, mechanical construction, piping, or fabrication projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and control project costs against approved budgets and contractual targets.
• Prepare and maintain project Cost Control Reports, Cost Forecasts, and Cost-to-Complete reports.
• Monitor actual costs, commitments, accruals, and variances and identify potential cost overruns.
• Coordinate with Project, Construction, Procurement, Planning, Quantity Surveying, and Finance teams to ensure accurate cost reporting.
• Track costs related to manpower, materials, equipment, subcontractors, fabrication, piping, and site activities.
• Review project expenditures and analyze cost variances against budgets.
• Assist in preparation of monthly cost reports, budget updates, cash flow forecasts, and management reports.
• Monitor variation orders, additional works, and change orders and assess their cost impact.
• Review subcontractor and supplier costs and commitments.
• Support project teams in maintaining accurate Budget vs. Actual cost information.
• Provide cost-related inputs for project forecasting and management decision-making.
• Ensure proper documentation and reconciliation of project costs with Finance and project records.
• Identify cost risks and provide timely recommendations to Project Management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in Cost Control, Project Controls, or Cost Engineering.
• Experience in Oil & Gas, EPC, Mechanical Construction, Piping, Fabrication, or related contracting projects.
• Strong understanding of project cost management and budget control.
• Experience with Budget vs. Actual, Cost Forecasting, Cost-to-Complete, Variance Analysis, and Cash Flow.
• Ability to understand BOQs, project budgets, material costs, manpower costs, equipment costs, and subcontractor costs.
• Good knowledge of MS Excel and project cost-control systems/ERP.
• Experience with Primavera P6 or other project control tools is an advantage.
• Good understanding of project planning and coordination with project teams.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• UAE / GCC Oil & Gas experience is preferred.
• Candidates available in the UAE are preferred.
