Cost Control Engineer

Job Summary

The Cost Control Engineer is responsible for planning, monitoring, analyzing, and controlling project costs to ensure projects are completed within the approved budget. The role involves tracking expenditures, forecasting costs, evaluating cost variances, preparing cost reports, and supporting project management in making informed financial decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project cost control systems and procedures.
• Monitor project budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts.
• Prepare cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and budget updates.
• Analyze cost variances and recommend corrective actions.
• Review contractor and supplier invoices for accuracy and compliance with contract terms.
• Track material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Assist in the preparation of project budgets and estimates.
• Evaluate change orders, variations, and claims for cost impact.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and finance departments.
• Ensure compliance with company financial policies and project control procedures.
• Monitor project progress and compare actual costs against planned costs.
• Prepare earned value analysis and project performance reports.
• Support project close-out activities, including final cost reporting and lessons learned documentation.
• Maintain accurate project cost records and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Professional Engineer (PRC License) is an advantage.
• Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in cost control, project controls, construction, or engineering projects.
• Strong knowledge of cost estimating, budgeting, and forecasting techniques.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, and project management software.
• Knowledge of Primavera P6, MS Project, SAP, or similar cost management tools is an advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
