Cost Control Engineer

• Develop, monitor, and maintain project budgets and cost control systems for steel fabrication and structural steel projects.
• Track actual costs against approved budgets, identifying cost variances and recommending corrective actions.
• Prepare cost reports, cost forecasts, cash flow projections, and cost-to-complete statements.
• Monitor material costs for structural steel, plates, sections, bolts, welding consumables, paint, and other fabrication materials.
• Analyse material consumption, wastage, scrap, and production costs to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Monitor labour costs, fabrication productivity, equipment costs, subcontractor expenses, and site installation costs.
• Coordinate with procurement, production, project management, planning, and finance teams to collect and validate cost information.
• Review BOQs, estimates, project budgets, and material take-offs to ensure alignment with project requirements.
• Monitor project progress against planned expenditure and evaluate the financial impact of delays or changes in scope.
• Track variations, additional works, claims, and change orders, ensuring their cost implications are accurately recorded.
• Support monthly cost reviews, budget revisions, and financial performance reporting to management.
• Assist in preparing tender estimates and comparing estimated costs against actual project costs.
• Identify cost overruns, analyse their root causes, and recommend measures to improve project profitability.
• Maintain accurate cost records, project documentation, and management reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in cost control, preferably within steel fabrication, structural steel, or steel manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication processes, material costing, production costs, and project execution.
• Experience in budget preparation, cost forecasting, variance analysis, cost-to-complete reporting, and cost optimisation.
• Familiarity with BOQs, material take-offs, project estimates, and subcontractor cost monitoring.
• Advanced MS Excel skills; experience with ERP systems, SAP, or similar cost management software is an advantage.
• Knowledge of Primavera P6 or other project planning tools is preferred.
• Strong analytical, reporting, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Pay: AED10,000.00 - AED13,000.00 per month
