Cost Controller Assistant

About the role

City Garden Grand Hotel is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cost Controller Assistant to join our Finance team. This is a full-time position based in Makati City, Metro Manila. As Cost Controller Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the cost accounting operations of our hotel, ensuring accurate cost tracking, analysis and reporting across all departments. This position is essential to maintaining financial control, optimising operational efficiency, and supporting management decision-making through reliable cost data and insights.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and maintenance of cost accounting records, ledgers and schedules for all hotel departments and cost centres
• Support the collection, verification and recording of operational cost data including labour costs, material costs, utilities and other departmental expenses
• Perform variance analysis and assist in identifying discrepancies between actual and budgeted costs
• Prepare cost allocation schedules and support the distribution of indirect costs across hotel departments
• Maintain cost accounting documentation and ensure all records are organised, accurate and compliant with company policies
• Assist in the production of cost reports and summaries for management review and decision-making
• Support the monitoring of inventory costs and assist with physical stock counts as required
• Collaborate with departmental heads and accounting personnel to gather cost information and clarify cost-related queries
• Assist in the analysis of departmental profitability and contribution margins
• Support the implementation and maintenance of cost accounting systems and procedures

What we're looking for

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• Proven experience of 1–3 years in cost accounting, general accounting or a similar financial role, preferably within the hospitality industry
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software packages
• Solid understanding of cost accounting principles, cost allocation methods and variance analysis
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Strong organisational abilities and capability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with different departments
• Knowledge of hospitality accounting or hotel operations is highly desirable
• Familiarity with accounting standards and best practices in cost control
• Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
