Cost Controller

Marshfield Consulting Services (Marshfield), established in 2021, is a dynamic construction project management consultancy based in Adelaide, with a team of 25–30 professionals. Due to strong demand across multiple industry sectors, we are seeking motivated Cost Controllers to join our team. We deliver comprehensive procurement, project, contract, governance, and commercial management services for both government clients and contractors, supporting all aspects of project delivery.

Our approach is transparent and collaborative, engaging actively with clients and employees at every project stage. Marshfield’s expertise spans the full spectrum of the water and construction industry, including program and project development, design management, stakeholder engagement, strategic procurement, and contract management.

Clients range from government bodies such as the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT), SA Water and the Department for Environment and Water (DEW), major construction contractors, and small and medium enterprises. Our professionals bring significant experience to programs from initial feasibility and business case stages through to project completion.

About the Role – Cost Controller

Cost Controllers are pivotal in ensuring the financial integrity of complex infrastructure projects across the water, environment, and civil construction sectors. In this role, you will collaborate closely with project managers, project directors, engineers, contractors, and government stakeholders to maintain rigorous cost management processes.

You will develop, monitor, and update project budgets; track and analyse expenditures versus forecasts; identify cost variances and trends; prepare periodic cost reports; and provide early warnings of potential overruns with actionable recommendations for corrective measures. Your work ensures projects remain financially disciplined and commercially sound.

About You

Essential:

• Tertiary qualification in a relevant area or equivalent industry experience
• Excellent technical skills in cost control, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Strong writing skills, including the communication of technical information in plain English
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Ability to build relationships and liaise confidently with internal and external stakeholders
• Flexibility, willingness to learn new processes and skills, and the capability to work independently
