Job Overview The Cost Efficiency Manager is responsible for identifying, validating, and executing margin-improvement initiatives across the business unit's manufacturing and supply portfolio. This role focuses heavily on developing robust "should-cost" models to challenge supplier pricing and managing the end-to-end Transfer of Work (ToW) to highly cost-effective, strategic global suppliers. Based in Matamoros, Mexico, this position serves as a critical link between engineering, plant operations, and global sourcing to systematically eliminate waste and drive total cost reduction. This position reports to the Sourcing Program and Materials Manager and will be based in Matamoros, Mexico.

Core Responsibilities

  • Should-Cost Modeling: Build, maintain, and deploy granular bottom-up "should-cost" clean-sheet models for electronics, raw materials, assemblies, and custom parts to drive commercial negotiation leverage.
  • Transfer of Work (ToW): Lead and project-manage complex Transfer of Work initiatives, transitioning production footprints from legacy or high-cost suppliers to localized or highly cost-effective alternatives without disrupting supply continuity.
  • VAVE Identification: Partner with Engineering and Manufacturing to lead Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VA/VE) workshops aimed at redesigning products or processes for optimal cost-out.
  • Cost-Out Pipeline: Track, govern, and drive a rigorous multi-million-dollar cost savings pipeline, ensuring accurate projection, verification, and timing of realized savings.
  • Supplier Benchmarking: Benchmark global market drivers, commodity prices, and labor rates to identify pricing anomalies and structural cost reduction opportunities across the current supply base.
  • Cross-Functional Execution: Collaborate daily with Plant Operations, Product Management, Quality, and Logistics to eliminate operational friction and ensure qualification plans for low-cost sources are executed on schedule.
  • Executive Reporting: Prepare and present financial cost-down metrics, business case assessments, and project risk registers directly to sourcing leadership.

ELIGIBILTY REQUIREMENTS: OmniOn Power will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in Mexico for this opening. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

Basic Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree (BS/BA) in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical), Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related technical field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in Sourcing, Procurement, Cost Engineering, or Manufacturing operations within a global footprint.
  • Language: Fluency in both written and spoken English and Spanish.

Desired Characteristics

  • Technical Skillset: Strong background in "should-cost" methodology, industrial manufacturing processes, and total cost of ownership (TCO) breakdown analysis.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated success leading cross-functional projects (Gantt charts, milestones, risk mitigation), specifically footprint transitions or product transfers.
  • Systems & Analytics: High proficiency in SAP ERP and advanced data analytics platforms (Microsoft Excel, Power BI) for deep-dive cost modeling.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong negotiation preparation skills with a track record of successfully using cost data to challenge vendor pricing.
  • Mindset: Self-starter with high energy, an analytical eye, and a passion for challenging the status quo to optimize business margins.
