Cost Engineer

About the role

LEC STEEL MANUFACTURING CORP. is seeking a Cost Engineer to join our engineering division on a full-time basis. This is a strategic position based in Quezon City, Metro Manila, where you will play a crucial role in managing project costs, budgets, and financial performance across our steel manufacturing and engineering projects. The Cost Engineer will be responsible for ensuring cost-effective delivery of projects whilst maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. This role reports to the Project Management Office and is integral to our commitment to delivering projects on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing accurate cost estimates and budgets for civil and structural engineering projects using industry-standard tools and methodologies
• Monitoring and controlling project costs throughout the project lifecycle, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions
• Conducting value engineering analyses to identify cost savings opportunities without compromising quality or safety standards
• Preparing cost reports and financial forecasts for project stakeholders and senior management
• Liaising with procurement, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain quotations and negotiate competitive pricing
• Maintaining detailed cost records and databases, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for audit and reporting purposes
• Analyzing project profitability and identifying areas for cost optimization and efficiency improvements
• Supporting the preparation of tenders and proposals with detailed cost breakdowns and commercial analysis
• Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and operations teams to ensure cost targets are met and resource allocation is optimal
• Providing cost engineering advice and recommendations to support strategic decision-making

What we're looking for

• Graduate of bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Structural Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related engineering discipline, another course may be entertained as long they have related experience.

• At least 6 months of experience in cost engineering or quantity surveying within the construction, steel manufacturing, or structural engineering sectors but fresh graduates are still welcome to apply.

• Proficiency in cost estimation software and tools.

• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, material costs, labor rates, and overheads relevant to civil and structural projects

• Excellent numerical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and trends

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and project management software

• Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams

• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all cost-related documentation

• Experience with Filipino building codes, regulations, and procurement practices is advantageous
