Cost Engineer

The Cost Engineer is responsible for preparing, monitoring, and analyzing project costs to ensure that expenses remain within the approved budget. The role involves preparing cost estimates, budgets, quotations, and cost forecasts; reviewing project plans, specifications, and material requirements; and evaluating labor, material, equipment, and other project-related costs. The Cost Engineer also maintains accurate cost records and prepares regular reports to support project management and financial decision-making.

The position works closely with project managers, procurement, engineering, finance, and suppliers to monitor actual costs against budgeted costs and identify variances or potential cost overruns. The Cost Engineer conducts cost analysis, recommends cost-saving measures, validates supplier quotations and project expenses, and assists in improving cost-control procedures. Strong analytical, numerical, communication, and problem-solving skills are required, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other cost-estimation or project management tools considered an advantage.
