Cost Engineer

We are currently seeking experienced Cost Discipline Engineers and Senior Cost Discipline Engineers for consideration in connection with an active tender opportunity within Trinidad & Tobago's energy sector.

The roles will provide cost engineering and financial oversight across project and turnaround portfolios, supporting effective budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, performance reporting and informed project decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide cost engineering support across projects and turnaround activities.
• Support project budgeting, forecasting and cost-performance monitoring.
• Monitor and report on expenditures, commitments, cash-flow projections and financial performance.
• Support preparation and management of project expenditure forecasts and authorisations.
• Analyse cost performance, trends and variances and provide meaningful information to project teams.
• Support Earned Value performance monitoring, including CPI and SPI.
• Provide cost input throughout the project lifecycle and support stage-gate decision-making.
• Work collaboratively with Project Management, Engineering, Construction, Finance, Procurement and Supply Chain teams.
• Support estimating, benchmarking and other project cost-management activities.
• Provide timely and accurate cost information to support effective project decision-making.

Required Qualifications & Experience for Discipline Engineer - Cost

Candidates being considered at Discipline Engineer level should possess:

• Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline from a recognised, accredited institution.
• Minimum five (5) years' experience within the energy sector , including at least three (3) years in Cost Engineering within the energy industry .
• Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint to prepare detailed reports, graphs, presentations and cost-related information.
• Awareness of stage-gate processes supporting project investment decisions.
• Working knowledge of estimating, benchmarking and project management .
• Awareness of Construction, Fabrication, Finance, Procurement and Supply Chain processes.

Senior Discipline Engineer - Cost

Candidates being considered at Senior level should possess:

• Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline from a recognised, accredited institution.
• Minimum ten (10) years' experience within the energy sector , including at least five (5) years in Cost Engineering within the energy industry .
• Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint to prepare complex reports, graphs and presentations.
• Knowledge of stage-gate processes supporting project investment decisions.
• Strong knowledge of estimating, benchmarking, project management, procurement, supply chain, construction and finance processes .
• Sound understanding of the interfaces between Construction, Finance, Procurement and Supply Chain .
• Membership or professional certification with a recognised cost-estimating body would be considered an asset.
