- Identify cost gaps, inefficiencies and opportunities for supplier competitiveness.
- Evaluate localisation, alternate sourcing and manufacturing footprint opportunities.
- Participate in supplier and manufacturing-partner discussions as the cost-engineering representative.
VA/VE & Cost Reduction
- Drive Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA/VE) initiatives.
- Identify opportunities through design-to-cost, process optimisation, material substitution and localisation.
- Develop annual cost-reduction and productivity improvement opportunities.
- Conduct teardown and benchmarking studies where required.
- Translate technical opportunities into measurable commercial savings.
Commodity & Market Intelligence
- Track movement in steel, aluminium, copper, engineering plastics and other key commodities.
- Monitor labour, energy, freight and regional manufacturing cost trends.
- Maintain current cost benchmarks to support pricing, budgeting and sourcing decisions.
Digital Cost Engineering
- Develop and maintain cost databases, costing templates and historical benchmarks.
- Improve costing processes through Excel, ERP/SAP, Power BI and analytics tools.
- Support development of automated and AI-enabled costing and benchmarking systems.
- Prepare management dashboards and cost-engineering reports.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in Cost Engineering, Cost Estimation, Manufacturing Engineering, Value Engineering or Strategic Procurement.
- Experience in automotive OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, auto-component manufacturers or engineering MSMEs preferred.
- Strong practical understanding of manufacturing processes and cost drivers.
- Demonstrated experience in should-costing, supplier quotation analysis, BOM costing and cost breakdowns.
- Exposure to supplier negotiations and commercial decision-making will be an advantage.
