Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Cost Estimator to join our construction team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately estimating project costs, preparing detailed bids, and supporting project planning from inception to completion. Duties

• Review construction blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to interpret project scope and material requirements.
• Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and Xactimate to develop precise cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
• Analyze material costs by reading blueprints and reviewing construction drawings to determine quantities needed for each project phase.
• Prepare detailed bid proposals that include pricing strategies, cost management plans, and risk assessments.
• Negotiate with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.
• Manage project budgets by tracking costs throughout the bidding process and during construction phases to ensure cost control.
• Collaborate with project teams on contract review, scope clarification, and change order management to optimize profitability.
• Conduct site visits when necessary to gather real-time data on construction progress and verify cost estimates against actual conditions.
• Communicate effectively with clients regarding project costs, scope adjustments, and potential value engineering opportunities.
• Maintain comprehensive records of estimates, bids, contracts, and related documentation using construction management software and spreadsheets.

Experience

• Proven experience in heavy civil or commercial construction estimating with a strong understanding of the entire project lifecycle.
• Proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Xactimate, or equivalent tools is essential.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex construction blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
• Solid knowledge of construction management practices including cost control, material procurement, contract negotiation, and project scheduling.
• Hands-on experience with construction site activities enhances estimation accuracy and project insight.
• Excellent communication skills for client negotiations and team collaboration across multiple stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel spreadsheets for cost analysis) is required; advanced skills in spreadsheets are preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction industry standards related to estimating for commercial projects across various sectors.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail under tight deadlines.

Pay: $63,977.25 - $77,047.88 per year
