What they need
Work on custom-made projects within the offshore, shipbuilding and heavy steel construction industries. No standard mass production or straightforward estimates. Instead, you will work on complex projects that demand technical knowledge, accuracy and responsibility.
From offshore structures to heavy steel frames for maritime applications, you will work on projects that are both technically challenging and impressive in scale. From our location in the port of IJmuiden, with direct access to the open sea, we build structures that literally travel all over the world. That is exactly what makes this position so interesting.
What will you be doing?
As a Cost Estimator, you translate technical drawings and customer requirements into smart, realistic and technically accurate cost estimates. You don't just think in numbers, you also consider manufacturability and execution.
You assess technical drawings, estimate production times and critically consider how structures can be made smarter, more efficiently or easier to manufacture. You work closely with suppliers, engineers, Production and customers.
Your responsibilities include:
- Preparing custom cost estimates for steel structures
- Reviewing technical drawings and designs
- Estimating labour hours, materials and production costs
- Requesting quotations and prices from suppliers
- Preparing and discussing quotations with customers
- Working closely with Project Management, Engineering and Production
- Advising on smarter or more manufacturable solutions
Sometimes you will be working on several estimates at the same time, while Production has questions about an ongoing project and a customer calls about a quotation. This requires you to maintain an overview, understand the technical details and switch quickly between different priorities.
That is exactly why this position is a great fit for someone who enjoys a dynamic working environment and taking responsibility.
What we offer
- A monthly salary between €4,000 and €6,000
- A good pension scheme through PMT
- Travel allowance of €0.19 per kilometre, increasing to €0.21 per kilometre for commutes of 30 kilometres or more each way
- 25 days of annual leave, plus the option to purchase an additional 64 hours of leave each year
- Overtime paid out or compensated with time off – the choice is yours
You will join an organisation with short lines of communication where we believe in being straightforward and saying things as they are. Our working hours are Monday to Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on Fridays we finish at 2:30 p.m. That means an early start to your weekend.
Want to develop yourself further? You will have plenty of opportunities to do so. Think of education, training and courses that match your field of expertise and ambitions.
And if you enjoy social activities, we have an active staff association that regularly organises events. Joining is entirely up to you.
Your profile
- You have experience as a Cost Estimator, Work Planner, Sales Engineer or in a similar technical position
- You are able to read and assess technical drawings
- You have experience or knowledge of steel construction, structural engineering or offshore projects
- You are able to maintain an overview and switch quickly between different tasks and priorities
- You communicate confidently with both customers and colleagues
- You have a good command of Dutch and/or English

At Breman Wesco, we don't focus on mass production, we focus on craftsmanship. You will work on technical projects that demand expertise, precision and quality. It is exactly this variety that makes the work challenging. Every project is different and requires something new from your knowledge and experience.
You are trusted to carry out your work independently and given the freedom to contribute ideas about the best possible solution. Not because you have to, but because we believe skilled professionals make the difference. To us, quality is not just a final inspection, it is part of the entire process.
And perhaps most importantly, you will work alongside colleagues who take just as much pride in their craft as you do. We believe in short lines of communication, helping each other move forward and being straightforward with one another. No unnecessary hassle, just working together to create something you can genuinely be proud to put your name to.
