Cost Estimator (LV/MV Switchboard or Electrical Switchgear)

Responsibility:

• Review and analyze technical drawings, specifications, and project requirements for Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) switchboard projects.
• Prepare detailed cost estimation, quotations, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) in accordance with project specifications and customer requirements.
• Source, evaluate, and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Production, Procurement, and Sales teams to ensure the accuracy and feasibility of project estimates.
• Support tender preparation, submission activities, and participate in client discussions and negotiations when required.
• Maintain and update costing databases, material prices, and labour rates to reflect current market conditions.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and contribute to value engineering initiatives without compromising quality and compliance.
• Ensure all estimates comply with applicable industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
• Prepare and submit estimation reports and documentation within project timelines.

Requirements:

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 4–5 years of relevant experience in cost estimation, preferably in the manufacturing of Low Voltage (LV) switchboards or electrical switchgear.
• Strong knowledge of LV electrical systems, switchgear components, electrical drawings, and manufacturing processes.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimation software; knowledge of AutoCAD is an added advantage.
• Mandarin-speaking candidates are required to liaise effectively with Mandarin-speaking customers, suppliers and stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
• Self-motivated, well-organized, and able to work under pressure to meet project deadlines.
• Able to start immediately or within a short notice period.
