Cost Manager

We represent a luxury custom builder in the Montgomery County, PA area that is looking for a Cost Systems Manager . This position offers an exciting opportunity for professionals with a background in managing construction costs and systems who are also comfortable with basic estimating. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for analyzing and controlling costs, managing cost control systems, pricing custom requests, and collaborating with various stakeholders to drive efficiency and value.

Cost Manager Responsibilities:

• Support the team in analyzing and controlling construction costs and profits for all homes.
• Manage a cost control system that effectively measures costs, production variances, and projects operating results.
• Build basic line item cost estimates to price custom requests and upgrades so the team and clients understand what a project will cost (does not include independent takeoffs, bidding, or proposals).
• Collaborate with divisional, regional, and corporate teams to improve costs, processes, and systems, ensuring consistent costing methods across the organization.
• Review current subcontractors and vendors, compare bids on cost, quality, and warranty, and recommend better pricing or new vendors where needed.
• Update and maintain sales, pricing, and cost information for all active and future communities.
• Project costs for new home designs and product offerings as part of the business plan.
• Review plans for standardization of components, options, and construction methods.

Cost Manager Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in cost analysis, purchasing, and/or estimating in construction.
• Basic estimating exposure, comfortable putting together line item costs for custom options and upgrades.
• Prior experience in costing within the homebuilding or construction industry.
• Experience comparing bids and negotiating with vendors is beneficial.
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience with builder cost/purchasing systems is a plus but not required.

Compensation: Salary is $120,000 to $150,000 annually (can go up depending on experience).
