Costing Executive

About the role

We are seeking a Costing Executive to join our Accounting department in a full-time position based in Central Seberang Perai, Penang. This role is essential to our financial operations, providing accurate cost analysis and financial data that directly supports strategic business decision-making. As a Costing Executive, you will play a vital part in ensuring our organisation maintains robust cost control, pricing accuracy, and profitability across all operational areas.

What you'll be doing

• Analysing and calculating product and service costs using various costing methodologies to ensure accurate cost allocation
• Preparing detailed cost reports and variance analysis to identify discrepancies between standard and actual costs
• Maintaining and updating costing records, spreadsheets and databases to ensure data integrity and accessibility
• Assisting in the preparation of budgets and forecasts based on historical costing data and operational requirements
• Collaborating with production, procurement and finance teams to gather relevant cost information and validate assumptions
• Supporting the identification and implementation of cost reduction initiatives and process improvements
• Reconciling invoices, purchase orders and material requisitions with cost records
• Providing cost analysis and recommendations to support management decisions on pricing, profitability and operational efficiency
• Assisting in the implementation and maintenance of costing systems and ensuring compliance with accounting standards

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
• Proven experience of 2-4 years in cost accounting, management accounting or a similar financial role
• Strong proficiency in spreadsheet applications and financial software; experience with accounting systems (such as SAP, Oracle or similar ERP systems) is advantageous
• Solid understanding of costing methods including absorption costing, standard costing, activity-based costing (ABC) and marginal costing
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Strong mathematical aptitude and ability to work with complex numerical data
• Effective communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment
• Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA or Malaysian accounting qualifications (such as those offered by MIA) is preferred but not essential
