Counsellor/Art Therapist/Play Therapist – 1 Full-Time Position alongside a Full Time Fixed-Term (Maternity Leave Cover)

Established in 1978, Parentline has a long history of supporting tamariki, rangatahi and whānau in our community. Today, we provide a range of services including counselling, family therapy, social work support, group programmes and the Incredible Years Parenting Programme. The majority of our services are focused on supporting tamariki and rangatahi, while also working alongside parents, caregivers and wider whānau where appropriate.

The Role

We are advertising two separate roles: one full-time permanent position and one 12-month fixed-term position providing maternity leave cover

The role primarily involves providing counselling support to tamariki and rangatahi, while also working with their whānau where appropriate. You will work alongside our wider multidisciplinary team to support positive outcomes for the clients we serve.

Applicants should hold a relevant professional qualification and registration, or be working towards registration with NZAC or another relevant regulatory body.

Professional development is a priority with opportunities for team development and individual staff development.

We are looking for a practitioner who is professional, empathetic and able to build strong, respectful relationships with tamariki, rangatahi and whānau.

Your Week:

• Maintain an active caseload, with an average of 4–5 client sessions per day.
• Co-facilitate in one therapeutic group per school term alongside other members of the Parentline team.
• Get involved in Parentline and community events/activites throughout the year.

Bonus Experience (not essential):

We would particularly welcome applicants with experience or knowledge in:

• Play therapy
• Sand tray therapy
• Trauma-informed practice
