Counselor

Position Summary: Responsible for utilizing creative clinical interventions to effectively work with clients.

Primary Duties.

• Establish and maintain an effective and professional relationship with clients while keeping awareness of appropriate boundaries.
• Provide individual, couples and family therapy based on specific treatment objectives.
• Provide crisis intervention services to clients as necessary.
• Participate in collaborative treatment planning with other providers.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other providers/professionals.
• Link clients with external programs or services and benefits for which they may be eligible.
• Prepare progress reports and documentation as required by payee.
• Attend clinical supervision meetings (including taping requirement)
• Facilitate and manage the therapy process according to the counselor’s guiding theory.
• All other duties assigned by management.

Minimum Educational & Experience Requirements

• Master’s degree in therapy, rehabilitative therapy, social work or related field

• Ability to create a schedule conducive to the client and family to provide maximum treatment
• High degree of organization and time management
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Demonstrated multicultural competence

• Effective and professional verbal and written communications
• Strong ethical standards

Physical Demands

In terms of a typical workday, “occasional” equals 1% to 33%, “frequent” equals 34% to 66% and “continuous” equals 67% to 100%. However, some duties are performed monthly, annually or sporadically throughout the year and are essential functions. • Continuous remaining in a stationary position, particularly, but not limited to, at a desktop computer
• Frequent visual review of documents on a computer screen
• Frequent repetitive use of hands/arms; particularly concerning typing, writing, phone & computer use
• Continuous communication: verbal and written, in-person, phone and electronic
• Frequent travel by car

Work Environment

• Office, client and remote environments
• Clinical license (LPC, LMFT,LCP) or be eligible for clinical residency
• Must pass the State Police Criminal History and Child Protective Services Investigations
• Outpatient counseling/therapy experience
