Specialized Treatment Services provides outpatient medication-assisted treatment and mental health services for individuals with opiate use disorders. Our model is patient-centered and focuses on an individualized recovery plan for the person served that can often stretch for years. We are currently seeking a few special individuals to join our counseling team. These positions offer long term client contact in a pleasant multidisciplinary clinical setting, early am hours 5:30am - 2:00pm M-F, primarily 1:1 counseling and some group work.
We are seeking an experienced Counselor Supervisor to provide clinical leadership and support to our counseling team within an Opioid Treatment Program (OTP). This is an opportunity for an experienced substance use disorder professional to combine direct clinical expertise with staff development, clinical supervision, and program leadership.
The Counselor Supervisor will help ensure that clients receive high-quality, individualized, and recovery-focused services while supporting counselors in their professional growth and clinical decision-making.
What You'll Do
- Provide clinical supervision, consultation, and ongoing support to substance use disorder counselors.
- Support counselors in developing individualized treatment plans and clinically appropriate interventions.
- Review clinical documentation for quality, accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with Minnesota requirements, ASAM standards, and agency policies.
- Monitor counselor caseloads and help ensure clients receive appropriate and timely counseling services.
- Provide consultation regarding complex clinical situations, client needs, treatment engagement, and changes in level or intensity of services.
- Collaborate with medical, nursing, and other members of the treatment team to promote coordinated client care.
- Support counselors in addressing substance use, co-occurring mental health needs, treatment barriers, and recovery goals.
- Identify staff training and professional development needs and assist with ongoing clinical education.
- Participate in quality-improvement activities and help develop consistent clinical practices across the program.
- Promote ethical, trauma-informed, person-centered, and evidence-based approaches to substance use disorder treatment.
- Support a positive, collaborative, and accountable clinical culture.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for a clinician who is experienced, approachable, clinically knowledgeable, and committed to developing others. The successful candidate will have strong communication and leadership skills and the ability to provide both support and accountability to a multidisciplinary counseling team.
Candidates should have:
- Appropriate Minnesota alcohol and drug counseling credentials/licensure to meet applicable OTP requirements.
- Experience providing substance use disorder counseling.
- Experience working with individuals receiving medication-assisted treatment/medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD).
- Clinical supervision or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of substance use disorder treatment, ASAM principles, documentation, and treatment planning.
- Ability to work collaboratively with counselors, medical staff, clients, and community providers.
- Strong organizational, communication, and clinical decision-making skills.
