Counter Staff

We are looking for a reliable, friendly and hardworking Counter Staff member to join our busy Chinese takeaway.

The role mainly involves taking customer orders, answering phone calls, packing takeaway orders, handling payments and keeping the shop clean and tidy. You will need to work efficiently during busy periods and communicate clearly with customers and other team members.

Main Duties

• Answer phone calls and take customer orders accurately
• Serve walk-in customers and process orders
• Pack takeaway orders carefully and check all items are included
• Handle cash and card payments
• Hand orders to customers and delivery drivers
• Restock bags, containers, sauces and other supplies
• Keep the counter, packing area and customer area clean and organised
• Carry out general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, wiping surfaces and emptying bins
• Help other team members during busy periods
• Follow food hygiene and safety procedures at all times

Requirements

• Reliable, punctual and hardworking
• Friendly and polite with customers
• Able to work well in a fast-paced environment
• Good communication skills
• Able to take phone orders clearly and accurately
• Basic English and maths skills
• Previous takeaway, restaurant or customer service experience is preferred but not essential
• Willing to learn and work as part of a team
• Weekend availability is required, especially Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings
• Flexibility to work evenings and busy periods is preferred

Trial Shift

A trial shift may be offered so you can learn the role and we can see how you work within the team. During the trial, you may assist with phone orders, packing food, serving customers and general cleaning.

Job Type: Part-time

Schedule:

• Evening shifts
• Weekend availability required
• Friday to Sunday availability preferred

Experience:
Customer service, takeaway or restaurant experience preferred, but training can be provided.

Pay: £12.71-£13.50 per hour

Expected hours: 5.0 – 10.0 per week
